Family Solicitor (Team Lead)

Apply now
  • Build your own family law team from the ground up
  • Join a well-respected, down-to-earth firm known for its supportive culture
  • Flexibility, job security, and a generous benefits package

A respected Tameside-based firm is looking for a Family Solicitor to take over the leadership of its family department following a recent senior departure. With a paralegal and trainee already in place and plenty of work coming in, this is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to build and shape their own team, supported by a firm that values commercial thinking, compassion, and collaboration.

You’ll be stepping into a team with excellent foundations and plenty of demand, with the freedom to structure and grow the department as you see fit. This is a role for someone ready to make an impact—either already operating at senior level or ready to step up—who enjoys mentoring others and thrives in a collaborative, no-ego environment.

Who we’re looking for

  • A well-rounded family solicitor with experience across matrimonial, private children and legal aid work
  • Comfortable handling a busy, predominantly privately funded caseload
  • Commercially minded—someone who can identify, manage and grow viable work streams
  • Friendly, down-to-earth, and motivated by building a team and making a difference
  • Previous management experience is ideal, but not essential if you have the leadership qualities and drive

Salary & benefits

  • Salary dependent on experienc
  • Hybrid working with at least one day per week from home
  • 23 days holiday plus bank holidays, with a holiday loyalty scheme and the option to buy more
  • Death in service and contributory pension
  • Enhanced sick pay and paid car parking (where relevant)
  • Laptop and mobile phone provided where required
  • Payment of professional memberships and subscriptions
  • Access to PayCare health cashback scheme and 24-hour GP line
  • Long service bonus, birthday and seasonal gifts, annual salary review and discretionary bonus scheme
  • Flexible working, generous lunch breaks, and regular MAPD group wellbeing initiatives (e.g. monthly team walks and lunches)
  • Career progression framework and support for higher education
  • Regular social events, dress-down days, and an annual bonding weekend
