This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious private client solicitor to take charge of the legal function at a fast-growing legal tech startup backed by established investors.

With a mission to transform the probate process, this company is harnessing AI to make estate administration faster and more accessible. As Head of Legal, you’ll oversee the entire legal operation, ensure compliance, and act as a key strategic decision-maker within the business.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a solicitor with:

  • Essential: A minimum of 3+ years PQE in private client law, with strong probate and estate administration experience.
  • Essential: A commercial mindset, with an understanding of compliance and SRA regulations.
  • Essential: The ambition and drive to thrive in a startup environment—someone who sees the opportunity, not just the risk.
  • Desirable: Experience as a COLP, or willingness to take on this responsibility.
  • Essential: The ability to translate legal knowledge into technical requirements to help develop a digital legal product.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £60k plus equity in the firm as a founding team member.
  • Equity: Employee stock options in line with early-stage startup standards.
  • Fully remote working (with quarterly meetings in London).
  • Flexibility to start part-time if preferred, with the option to transition to full-time.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Private health cover.
  • Pension contribution (3%).
  • Fully funded STEP qualification, with a clause requiring reimbursement if leaving early.
  • Full autonomy to build and scale the legal function, making a lasting impact on the probate industry.
