On Friday 3rd September, we were delighted to be crowned the winner of the Wellbeing in the Workplace award at the Greater Manchester Business Awards.
Now in their fifth year, the awards celebrate the professionalism and excellence of businesses and organisations across Greater Manchester. This was the first year we’d entered the awards (and also the first time in a long time that we’d been able to attend an awards ceremony in person!) so we were really excited to be shortlisted in two categories, Employer of the Year along with Wellbeing in the Workplace.
While we’ve always been forward-thinking at Realm and have understood the importance of a healthy life-work balance, we became more aware of the potentially dangerous effects of overwork and burnout during lockdown. Over the last 12 months, we’ve been proactive in combating mental health issues within our workplace by helping our team to have a healthier life-work balance and even greater control over when and where they work.
We’re really proud of our open and supportive culture and were thrilled to have this and our recent wellbeing initiatives recognised externally at the Greater Manchester Business Awards.
Our director Duane Cormell commented on the win:
“When it comes to life-work balance, we believe that life is the more important of the two here and so it has long been a priority for me to try to create a positive environment, free as much as possible from stress, but with tools and support mechanisms in place to help when stress, anxiety and other mental illness inevitably do hit.
I don’t think we’re perfect on this front, but to receive this award tells me we’re on a good path, which I’m really proud of.”
