In our Career Spotlight feature, we catch up with each member of the Realm team to talk about where they came from, what their job involves and how they’ve grown since joining the business.
Next up, is our private client and court of protection recruitment specialist Kelly, who joined Realm in February 2017.
What did you do before you joined Realm / How did you end up working in legal recruitment?
I’ve always specialised in legal as long as I’ve been working in recruitment. I had ten years’ experience before joining Realm, having started my career with RBUK and then joining Lipson Lloyd-Jones.
Why did you join Realm?
I joined Realm because I felt ready for a new challenge and thought because they were a fairly new consultancy, Realm could offer this. Having met Duane, I knew there were plenty of opportunities as to the direction I could move in if I joined. I was also keen to really develop my skills, having never previously had any formal training, and Duane had talked about the significant opportunities to do so at Realm, such as working with an external trainer and participating in internal sessions.
Also, flexibility was key for me as I have two young children. Location was another attraction, as I live locally and didn’t enjoy the commute to the city centre.
What does your role at Realm involve?
I specialise in Private Client recruitment so I am continually building contacts in this field across the North West, Yorkshire and the West Midlands. I handle the full 360 recruitment, finding suitable candidates for clients, and finding suitable opportunities for candidates. I attend networking events and client meetings.
What has been the biggest achievement of your career so far?
Having my two young children, I now work part-time and can’t believe that this year is probably my most successful year to date!
How has working at Realm helped you in your career development?
Any training I’d like to do and any suggestions I have which I feel will help me, are supported.
If I have any issues or would like a second opinion on a particular matter then Duane is always approachable and will offer to help.
