This is an exceptional opportunity for a Contentious Probate Solicitor to join a highly respected team in York and step straight into a busy, varied caseload.
You’ll join one of the largest private client offerings in the region, with a Legal 500-recognised contentious probate arm and strong internal referrals from private client, property and agriculture teams.

Who we’re looking for
- Ideally 3–6 PQE in contentious probate or general litigation with relevant exposure
- Strong grounding in contentious probate or mixed litigation
- Self-sufficient file manager with strong technical and client-facing skills
- Confident communicator able to build relationships internally and externally
- Commercial, grounded and collaborative
- Driven, down-to-earth and aligned with a supportive team culture
What you’ll be doing
- Manage your own contentious probate and contentious trusts caseload
- Work closely with private client, property and agriculture teams
- Support departmental development and contribute to rebuilding the mid-tier
- Build strong internal referrer relationships
- Deliver excellent client care and pragmatic advice
- Potentially mentor junior colleagues depending on experience
