This is an exceptional opportunity for a Contentious Probate Solicitor to join a highly respected team in York and step straight into a busy, varied caseload.

You’ll join one of the largest private client offerings in the region, with a Legal 500-recognised contentious probate arm and strong internal referrals from private client, property and agriculture teams.

Who we’re looking for

  • Ideally 3–6 PQE in contentious probate or general litigation with relevant exposure
  • Strong grounding in contentious probate or mixed litigation
  • Self-sufficient file manager with strong technical and client-facing skills
  • Confident communicator able to build relationships internally and externally
  • Commercial, grounded and collaborative
  • Driven, down-to-earth and aligned with a supportive team culture


What you’ll be doing

  • Manage your own contentious probate and contentious trusts caseload
  • Work closely with private client, property and agriculture teams
  • Support departmental development and contribute to rebuilding the mid-tier
  • Build strong internal referrer relationships
  • Deliver excellent client care and pragmatic advice
  • Potentially mentor junior colleagues depending on experience
