This is a standout opportunity for an experienced Contentious Probate Solicitor to launch and lead a specialist inheritance disputes offering within a well-established South Yorkshire firm.

There is already a high volume of inbound contentious probate enquiries being referred externally, meaning an immediate opportunity. The firm now wants to bring that work in-house and build a recognised regional disputes practice around the right person.

If you are entrepreneurial, technically strong and excited by the idea of building something with genuine backing (rather than starting from zero alone), this is a rare platform.

Who we’re looking for

  • 5+ years PQE in contentious probate or inheritance disputes
  • Strong litigation grounding
  • Ability to manage complex and high-value disputes independently
  • Comfortable being the technical lead in the firm
  • Commercially aware with an interest in growing a department
  • Ambitious and motivated to build something long term
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff (Desired)
  • ACTAPS membership (Desired)

What you’ll be doing

  • Launching and establishing the firm’s contentious probate offering
  • Converting high volumes of existing inbound enquiries
  • Managing complex matters
  • Building internal referral streams
  • Working closely with marketing to promote the service
  • Managing commercial performance and fee income growth
  • Shaping the future structure of the contentious probate team
  • Supervising junior staff as the department expands
