Court of Protection Solicitor
Hot Job
- Be the most senior Court of Protection lawyer in Leeds (with support from a national team)
- 3 days from home + national team support around you
- Clear, realistic route to partnership, not a crowded hierarchy
This is a slightly unusual role, in a good way.
You’ll be joining a national Court of Protection team, but locally, you’ll be the senior presence in Leeds. There’s already an existing caseload and client base to pick up, so you’re not starting from zero, but you will have the autonomy to shape how things develop from here.
In your first few months, the priority is getting on top of the files and building relationships with Yorkshire-based clients. You’ll also be working closely with a Partner in another office, so while you’ll have independence day-to-day, you won’t be left without support.
By the 12-month mark, you’ll be fully embedded as the go-to CoP lawyer in Leeds, running your own caseload, supporting a trainee and secretary, and starting to influence how the local offering grows.
Longer term, this role is about building something. There’s a genuine opportunity to develop the Leeds presence, strengthen client relationships and position yourself for progression within a firm that actually has space at the top.
The culture is collaborative rather than competitive. You get the infrastructure and quality work of a large firm, but without the internal politics or bottlenecks that often come with it.
Who we’re looking for
- Qualified Solicitor with 2–4 PQE (up to 5 considered) in Court of Protection
- Experience handling property & affairs work
- Exposure to finance and/or local authority matters (Desired)
- Ability to manage your own caseload independently
- Strong client relationship and communication skills
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff (Desired)
- Self-sufficient and comfortable operating as a senior local presence
- Ambition to help grow and develop a regional offering (Desired)
What you’ll be doing
- Managing a Court of Protection caseload (property & affairs, finance and related matters)
- Taking over and progressing existing Yorkshire-based files
- Acting as the senior CoP lawyer in Leeds
- Supporting and mentoring a trainee and secretary
- Building relationships with local clients and contacts
- Working closely with the wider national Court of Protection team
- Contributing to the growth and development of the Leeds offering
Salary & Benefits
- Hybrid working, 2 days office / 3 days from home
- Clear pathway to senior roles and partnership
- 28 days holiday + bank holidays
- Private healthcare, life insurance and income protection
- Pension scheme and flexible benefits package
- Strong emphasis on wellbeing and career development
- National team support with genuine collaboration (not competition)
