This Warwickshire-based opportunity sits within one of the region’s strongest specialist private client teams — a Tier 1 Legal 500 department advising HNW and UHNW individuals, families and business owners on sophisticated tax, trusts and estate planning matters. The team is continuing to grow steadily and is open-minded about exactly what the right hire looks like, whether that’s a future Partner, a technical specialist or someone already bringing leadership experience and a following.
The work itself is highly specialised and intellectually strong, but the environment is notably less corporate than many firms operating at this level. Targets are team-based rather than aggressively individual, collaboration is genuine rather than performative, and there’s a strong sense that everyone is pulling in the same direction long term.
From the outset, you’ll handle complex tax and trusts matters for wealthy clients with significant assets and complicated family structures. Over time, there’s genuine opportunity to deepen client relationships, mentor more junior lawyers, influence the direction of the team and progress towards Partnership without navigating layers of internal politics.
Despite the calibre of the work, the culture remains refreshingly grounded. Lawyers tend to stay because they’re trusted, supported properly and given real autonomy to develop their practice in a sustainable way.
Who we’re looking for
- Technically strong Private Client Solicitor (E)
- Significant experience in tax and trusts work (E)
- Broad private client experience across estate planning and succession matters (E)
- Strong experience handling complex HNW/UHNW matters (E)
- Background from a Legal 500 or respected regional practice (E)
- Strong client relationship and communication skills (E)
- Interested in long-term progression and profile building (D)
- STEP qualified or working towards STEP (D)
- Mentoring or leadership capability (D)
What you’ll be doing
- Advising HNW and UHNW individuals on complex tax and trusts matters
- Managing and developing an established caseload
- Delivering sophisticated estate and succession planning advice
- Building long-term client and referrer relationships
- Supporting and mentoring junior lawyers where appropriate
- Contributing to the continued growth and strategic direction of the team
- Working collaboratively within a specialist, high-performing private client department
