In this edition of Realm Talks To… we spoke to Emma Nimmo, Senior Associate in the Commercial Property team at Kuits Solicitors. During their conversation, Emma explained what makes Kuits different, how the firm are supporting local charity Wood Street Mission and what she likes doing away from the office.
What’s the most interesting case you’ve worked on?
I recently worked on a site acquisition of high-value development land for one of our core clients which involved various parties and multiple layers of documentation. The reason why this was interesting for me was that this was a complicated site and structure and I learned a lot from being given the opportunity to work alongside one of the partners in the team to develop my experience in dealing with development land.
What makes your firm different?
We are our clients’ trusted legal advisors. We work closely with our clients to provide rounded advice and we don’t just do the job and move on to the next one. We work closely with clients to understand their needs and objectives to provide the best advice possible.
Who do you turn to for advice at work?
Everyone! Everyone at Kuits is very helpful and supportive whether that is people within the team I am part of or colleagues from other departments within the firm. There is always someone who I can query work-specific questions with and obtain guidance from or ask for general advice on how to deal with a problem. There is an active open-door policy and encouragement to communicate and be collaborative.
What do you like to do away from the office?
I love yoga, walking and holidays somewhere warm.
Is there a particular charity that means a lot to you and that you’d like to raise awareness for?
Wood Street Mission is one of our nominated firm charities that give fantastic support to low-income families in Manchester. Charities like Wood Street Mission are so important, particularly in the current climate where costs of living are increasingly rising. Children’s health and wellbeing shouldn’t be impacted because of this just by reason of their background. Kuits have been involved in various fundraising activities for this charity and everyone within the firm is able to play a part in this, no matter how big or small.
What’s your signature dish?
Any type of curry and, in particular, any of Nisha Katona’s recipes. Her spinach and paneer curry is my go-to.
