In our latest edition of Realm Talks To…, we caught up with Jennifer Roulston, Family Solicitor at Lund Bennett.
In the interview, Jennifer lets us in on her day-to-day role as a family solicitor, explains who has been her biggest career inspirations and how she became interested in becoming a lawyer.
How do you usually start your working day?
With a really good coffee and a gossip!!
At what age did you decide that the law was for you?
I really hate to admit this but in the 80s – LA Law was so glamorous.
What’s been the proudest moment of your career so far?
I acted for a lady and her child and about 10 years later bumped into them in a supermarket – both were crying telling me the positive impact I had on their lives.
Every recommendation from a previous client makes me proud.
Who’s the biggest inspiration in your career?
My old senior partners – John Spittle and Norman Banner – both taught me that being nice makes you far more successful
What’s the most interesting case you’ve worked on?
Too many to mention – I often think I should write a memoir
What advice would you give to someone just starting in the law?
You have to love it! Make sure you surround yourself with positive great lawyers
What’s your go-to work from home snack?
I really want to say healthy snacks but in reality toast, sweets and supernoodles!
What are you most looking forward to doing now that lockdown is lifting?
Of course – getting out to restaurants and pubs!!! At Lund Bennett, the diary has been booked for day 1!!
Do you prefer a night in or a night out?
Night out – or preferably day and night out!!
What TV show are you currently bingeing?
Line of Duty was a must but now we can socialise again I do not have time for TV!
