Clinical Negligence Solicitor

Apply now
  • Take ownership of an established Clinical Negligence function and shape its future growth
  • Lead and mentor two paralegals/litigators while becoming the firm’s Clinical Negligence subject-matter expert
  • Highly flexible working, including hybrid and potential 4-day or compressed weeks

Are you an experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor looking for the autonomy to lead, develop and grow a department?

This established North West practice is looking for an ambitious Clinical Negligence Solicitor to take ownership of its Clinical Negligence offering from its Preston office.

You’ll inherit an established caseload of approximately 60 Clinical Negligence matters from the current locum, giving you a strong platform from day one. Alongside managing your own varied caseload, you’ll supervise two paralegals/litigators and take the lead on developing the department.

Reporting directly to the Managing Partner, you’ll have significant autonomy to shape how the team develops, build relationships with referrers and grow the firm’s Clinical Negligence work.

Who we’re looking for

  • Qualified Solicitor with at least 6 years’ PQE (E)
  • Broad Clinical Negligence experience (E)
  • Ability to independently manage a varied caseload (E)
  • Leadership, supervision or mentoring experience (E)
  • Ambition to develop and grow a Clinical Negligence department (E)
  • Strong client care and communication skills (E)
  • Commercial and proactive approach (E)
  • Business development experience (D)

What you’ll be doing

  • Inheriting around 60 Clinical Negligence cases
  • Leading the Clinical Negligence function
  • Supervising two paralegals/litigators
  • Managing a varied caseload
  • Mentoring and developing junior team members
  • Creating plans for departmental growth
  • Developing relationships with referrers
  • Identifying new business opportunities
  • Reporting directly to the Managing Partner
  • Acting as the firm’s Clinical Negligence expert

Salary & Benefits

  • £60,000–£75,000 plus bonus
  • Hybrid working
  • Potentially as little as 1 office day per week once established
  • 4-day working week considered
  • Compressed working week considered
  • 35-hour week, 9am–5pm
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Christmas closure
  • Private healthcare
  • Free parking
  • High levels of autonomy
  • Genuine opportunity to build and grow a department

You’ll initially spend more time in the Preston office during your three-month probation while taking over the caseload and getting to know the wider team. Once established, the firm offers considerable flexibility around where and how you work.

This is much more than a traditional fee-earning position. You’ll become the Clinical Negligence subject-matter expert within the firm, with the freedom to develop the team, grow its caseload and put your own stamp on the department.

You’ll do so within a grounded, collaborative regional practice with an open-door culture and the infrastructure of a wider North West firm.
