  • Rare opportunity to become the dedicated Contentious Probate specialist within a growing litigation team
  • Handle high-quality, emotionally complex disputes with excellent flexibility and largely home-based working
  • Join an award-winning regional firm with genuine progression opportunities and a strong reputation for client care

This is a rare opportunity for a Contested Probate Solicitor to join a highly respected litigation team and establish themselves as the firm’s dedicated specialist in contentious probate and trust disputes.

You’ll join an award-winning, progressive law firm with a strong reputation across the North West for delivering expert legal advice with a genuinely personal approach. The wider Dispute Resolution team is well-established and highly regarded, with increasing demand for contentious probate expertise creating the need for a solicitor to focus specifically on this area.

The role offers exposure to a broad and interesting caseload including inheritance disputes, will challenges, trust disputes, executor disagreements and ToLATA claims. You’ll act for a wide range of clients across both publicly and privately funded matters, supporting individuals through sensitive and often highly emotional situations with empathy and professionalism.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys contentious probate work and wants the autonomy to build and develop a specialist offering within a supportive wider litigation team, while still benefiting from collaboration, infrastructure and strong internal referral opportunities.

The firm also offers an exceptional level of flexibility, with largely home-based working and office attendance tailored around the successful candidate’s experience and preferences.

Who we’re looking for

  • Qualified Solicitor with 3+ years’ PQE in contentious probate or litigation
  • Strong experience handling contentious probate, trusts disputes and ToLATA matters
  • Experience managing both public and privately funded work
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills
  • Comfortable managing a caseload independently from instruction through to resolution
  • Empathetic and client-focused approach
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • ACTAPS qualification advantageous but not essential

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing a caseload of contentious probate and trusts disputes
  • Advising clients on inheritance claims, will disputes, ToLATA applications and executor disputes
  • Drafting pleadings, witness statements, applications and settlement agreements
  • Conducting advocacy where appropriate and liaising with counsel on complex hearings
  • Supporting clients through sensitive and emotionally challenging matters
  • Working closely with the wider litigation team while developing the firm’s contentious probate offering
  • Keeping up to date with developments in contentious probate and trust law

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Hybrid and highly flexible working arrangements
  • Largely home-based role with ad hoc office attendance
  • Opportunity to build and develop a specialist contentious probate practice
  • High-quality and varied caseload
  • Genuine career progression opportunities
