Court of Protection Paralegal

Apply now
  • Join a growing Court of Protection department with an established and increasing caseload
  • Handle varied deputyship, professional attorney and complex Court of Protection matters
  • Three days working from home, with autonomy and support from an experienced leadership team

Are you an experienced Court of Protection Paralegal looking for greater responsibility, varied work and the opportunity to help shape a developing department?

This established Merseyside law firm is looking for a Court of Protection Paralegal to join its growing team. The firm is also open to experienced Court of Protection Solicitors at Associate or Senior Associate level.

You’ll take ownership of an existing caseload covering panel deputyships, professional deputyships, professional attorney matters and associated applications. There’s also exposure to more complex work, including Court of Protection matters arising from clinical negligence settlements exceeding £30 million, alongside some contentious cases.

With a strong flow of instructions from panel appointments, professional referrals and recommendations, you’ll be able to focus on delivering excellent client care rather than building a caseload from scratch.

You’ll join a close-knit team with support from an experienced leadership group. For more senior solicitors, there’s also the opportunity to develop the department, build a team and potentially progress towards Head of Court of Protection.

Who we’re looking for

  • Previous Court of Protection experience (E)
  • Ability to manage a Court of Protection caseload independently (E)
  • Experience with deputyship or professional attorney matters (E)
  • Ability to drive and attend client visits (E)
  • Strong organisational and file management skills (E)
  • Excellent client care and communication skills (E)
  • Confident, proactive and self-sufficient approach (E)
  • Experience with panel deputyship matters (D)
  • Exposure to contentious Court of Protection work (D)
  • Experience handling complex or high-value cases (D)

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing your own Court of Protection caseload
  • Handling panel and professional deputyship files
  • Managing professional attorney matters
  • Preparing associated Court of Protection applications
  • Supporting clients with complex financial affairs
  • Attending client visits across the region
  • Handling matters involving significant clinical negligence settlements
  • Assisting with contentious Court of Protection matters
  • Building relationships with clients and referrers
  • Supporting the department’s continued growth

Salary & Benefits

  • £28,000-£35,000, dependent on experience and expertise
  • Hybrid working – up to 3 days from home
  • Established and growing caseload
  • Variety of deputyship and attorney work
  • Exposure to complex, high-value matters
  • Close-knit, supportive team
  • Strong leadership support
  • Autonomy over caseload management
  • Opportunity to help develop a growing department
  • Potential leadership progression for experienced solicitors

This is an opportunity to join a developing Court of Protection practice at a stage when demand is already strong and there’s genuine scope to make your mark.

Whether you’re an experienced Paralegal seeking greater independence or a qualified Solicitor looking to take on a more senior role, you’ll benefit from quality work, flexible working and the opportunity to contribute to the team’s future.
