Family Partner
Hot Job
- £85,000–£100,000 salary plus bonus, with the opportunity to join directly at Partner level
- Be more than a technical lawyer, take a genuine seat at the management table and help shape the future of a growing Legal 500 firm
- Join an ambitious, collaborative family team with clear progression, hybrid working and a strong track record of retaining and developing its people
If you’re an experienced Family Solicitor who still enjoys fee earning but wants more influence over the direction of a business, this is an opportunity to make that step.
You’ll join a growing Legal 500 firm where you’ll be part of the management team from day one, combining a high-quality private family caseload with genuine involvement in business decisions, team development and the future growth of the department.
This is particularly well suited to someone who feels they’ve reached a ceiling in their current firm. Rather than simply being given another title, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute commercially, attend monthly management meetings, mentor lawyers and work closely with the existing leadership team to grow revenue and profitability.
The firm is looking for someone with similar ambition: a proactive, commercially minded lawyer who wants to become an important part of the business rather than simply run their own files.
The culture remains down-to-earth despite the firm’s growth. There’s an open-door approach, ideas are welcomed, and the leadership team genuinely wants people to contribute. It’s ambitious and commercially focused, but also social, collaborative and supportive.
Who we’re looking for
- Family Solicitor with 7+ years’ PQE
- Senior-level or Partner-level experience, with the ability to join directly as a Partner
- Strong experience managing privately funded family law matters
- Proven billing performance and strong recovery rates
- Meaningful experience supervising and managing lawyers or a wider team
- Experience of business development, networking and generating referrals
- Commercial mindset with an interest in the performance and growth of the wider business
- Proactive, resilient and ambitious approach
- Experience reviewing financial or management information relating to business performance (Desired)
What you’ll be doing
- Managing your own caseload of privately funded family matters
- Becoming an active member of the firm’s management team
- Attending and contributing to monthly management meetings
- Supervising, mentoring and developing lawyers within the Family team
- Working closely with senior leadership on departmental targets and performance
- Developing relationships with clients, referrers and professional contacts
- Networking and supporting business development activity
- Helping drive further revenue and profitability across the department
- Contributing to strategic and operational decisions as the firm continues to grow
Salary & Benefits
- Opportunity to join directly at Partner level
- Performance-related bonus
- Hybrid working with up to two days from home for full-time employees
- 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
- Birthday off
- Christmas and New Year closure without using annual leave
- Annual Christmas bonus
- Out-of-hours GP service
- Mental health-trained first aiders
- Regular socials and Christmas party
- Laptop and mobile phone
- Pension contribution
- Regular one-to-ones focused on wellbeing, performance and how the firm can better support you
This would suit an ambitious senior family lawyer who wants a bigger seat at the table. You’ll have the opportunity to remain close to clients and fee earning while also influencing strategy, developing people and helping shape the next stage of a successful firm’s growth.
