Family Solicitor

Apply now
  • Inherit a quality private family caseload, no need to build from scratch
  • Real input into growing the department, with freedom to shape your specialism
  • Hybrid working + Christmas shutdown (without using holiday allowance)

This is a role where you’ll step into something that already has momentum, not a blank page.

You’ll take over an existing caseload (including HNW work) and work closely with a senior associate, giving you both autonomy and a sounding board when needed. From day one, you’ll be trusted to run your own files, with the expectation that you can manage divorce, financial remedy and children matters confidently. You’ll work from the Liverpool office, but also open to Chester office.

Over the first 6–12 months, the focus shifts beyond just the caseload. You’ll start to get involved in business development, marketing ideas and helping shape how the family offering grows, particularly as the firm looks to strengthen its presence in Chester.

Longer term, this is a role you can mould around your interests. Whether that’s specialising in a particular area of family law, mentoring junior staff, or stepping into a more senior position as the team expands, there’s genuine flexibility in how your career develops.

The culture is relaxed, open and people-first. It’s a place where you’re known as an individual, not a number, with a team that’s sociable, supportive and takes the work seriously without taking themselves too seriously.

Who we’re looking for

  • Qualified Solicitor with 2–3+ PQE in private family law
  • Strong experience across divorce, financial remedy and private children work
  • Ability to run your own caseload independently without heavy supervision
  • Experience with higher-value or more complex matters (Desired)
  • Exposure to TOLATA, pre-nups or commercially minded divorce work (Desired)
  • Interest in business development and networking (Desired)
  • Confident, personable and client-focused communicator
  • Down-to-earth, team-oriented with no ego

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing a private family caseload including divorce, finance and children matters
  • Taking over and progressing an existing caseload from a departing solicitor
  • Advising clients on complex and, at times, high-value matters
  • Building relationships with clients and local contacts
  • Supporting business development and marketing activity
  • Working closely with a senior associate on strategy and growth
  • Potentially mentoring junior team members as the department expands

Salary & Benefits

  • Hybrid working: typically 3 days office / 2 days from home
  • 2-week Christmas shutdown (no holiday allowance used)
  • Medi-cash health plan (covering dental, physio, optical and more)
  • Holiday purchase scheme (buy up to 5 extra days)
  • Flexible holiday booking in hours (not just full days)
  • Clear, tailored progression, build your role around your strengths
  • Supportive, people-first culture where individuals are genuinely valued
