Are you an experienced Private Client Solicitor ready to take on more responsibility and play a meaningful role in the growth of a team?

This growing Cheshire practice is looking for a Private Client Associate to become a key part of its developing Knutsford offering. Ideally, you’ll have around 5–10 years’ PQE and be comfortable combining high-quality fee earning with mentoring, business development and wider team responsibilities.

Importantly, this isn’t a standing start. Work will be fed from the firm’s established Cheshire practice, giving you an existing platform while you help build its presence in Knutsford. There’s a broad range of Private Client work available, including more complex and HNW matters, with scope to tailor your caseload around your strengths.

You’ll also have the opportunity to develop relationships with IFA contacts, support junior lawyers and contribute to future recruitment as the team grows.

Who we’re looking for

  • Private Client Solicitor, ideally 5–10 years’ PQE (E)
  • Strong Private Client caseload experience (E)
  • Wills, probate and estate administration experience (E)
  • Ability to manage matters autonomously (E)

  • Collaborative and commercially minded approach (E)
  • Interest in growing the Knutsford offering (E)
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers (D)
  • HNW and complex Private Client experience (D)
  • Business development experience or IFA relationships (D)

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing a broad Private Client caseload
  • Handling complex and HNW matters
  • Advising on wills and estate planning
  • Managing probate and estate administration
  • Advising on trusts and tax
  • Handling Powers of Attorney
  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers
  • Developing relationships with IFAs
  • Supporting business development
  • Helping recruit and grow the team

Salary & Benefits

  • Up to £55,000, with potential flexibility towards £60,000
  • 3 days in the office and 2 from home
  • Free office parking
  • Enhanced holiday based on service
  • Generous pension scheme
  • Life insurance
  • Enhanced Employee Assistance Programme
  • Eye care scheme
  • Employee recognition scheme
  • Ongoing professional development
  • Support for professional qualifications
  • Individually set, achievable financial targets
  • Clear progression towards Director

There’s a defined career framework within the firm, with Associate to Director the natural next step for someone who wants to continue progressing. The Head of Private Client is herself a Director and has been with the practice for more than 20 years.

The culture is relaxed, friendly and open-door. Lawyers aren’t micromanaged, and the environment is deliberately less corporate and numbers-driven than many larger practices while still offering the infrastructure and opportunities of a growing firm.

For an Associate who wants quality Private Client work alongside genuine influence over how a team develops, this is an opportunity to establish yourself as a senior figure within a growing Knutsford office.
