Private Client Lawyer

Apply now
  • Step into a key mid-level role bridging the gap between junior and senior fee earners
  • Clear progression into a senior role within a growing Private Client team
  • Broad caseload spanning wills, trusts, probate, LPAs and deputyships

Are you a Private Client Lawyer who wants more responsibility, greater variety in your caseload and a genuine opportunity to progress?

A well-established Leeds firm is growing its Private Client department following an increase in work and is looking for an experienced lawyer to join its close-knit team.

You’ll take ownership of a broad mix of pre-death and post-death matters, giving the Head of Department greater capacity to focus on growing the practice. You’ll work closely with an approachable and experienced Head of Department who is on hand to mentor and support you, while still having the autonomy to manage your own caseload.

As the department continues to grow, there’s scope to take on more responsibility for junior colleagues, business development and the wider direction of the team. It’s an excellent opportunity if you’re ready to move beyond simply running files and start building towards a more senior position.

Who we’re looking for

  • Private Client Solicitor with 3+ years’ PQE
  • Experienced fee earners may also be considered (Desired)
  • Experience across wills, trusts, LPAs, deputyships and probate
  • Strong independent caseload management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness and ability to identify potential risks
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and case management systems
  • Collaborative, team-focused approach
  • Confident working autonomously
  • Tact, diplomacy and sensitivity when supporting Private Client clients
  • Ambition to progress and take on greater responsibility
  • Marketing and business development experience (Desired)
  • Contentious probate knowledge (Desired)

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing your own Private Client caseload
  • Advising on wills and estate planning
  • Handling probate and estate administration
  • Advising on trusts and LPAs
  • Working on deputyship matters
  • Drafting legal documentation
  • Managing matters from instruction to completion
  • Supporting and supervising junior colleagues
  • Liaising with clients and third parties
  • Ensuring AML and regulatory compliance
  • Contributing to marketing and client development
  • Sharing knowledge across the team

  • Clear route to Senior Solicitor and beyond
  • Broad Private Client caseload
  • Close access to an experienced Head of Department
  • Genuine mentoring and development
  • Opportunity to take on supervisory responsibility
  • Growing department with scope to influence its future
  • Flexibility around start and finish times
  • Part-time arrangements potentially considered
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment
