3 years ago today Realm was born. Unhappy with the scattergun approach of recruitment that I was increasingly seeing in the market, I wanted to do things differently; I wanted to offer a more personal and tailored recruitment service. 3 years on, I’m delighted that this vision has developed into the business that Realm Recruit is today and I’m especially pleased with the progress that we’ve made over the last year.
We’ve always held ourselves up as being a dynamic business and I think that’s a claim that has particularly held true these last 12 months.
As a team, we made the decision to redefine our core values last year, to better reflect the refreshing approach that we had collectively fostered over time. The clients we recruit for and the candidates we represent know us for our refreshingly human, candid, consultative, niche, and dynamic approach. It might be a bit cliché but, we live and breathe these values and that’s because they weren’t plucked from out of thin air, but genuinely reflect who we are and what’s important to us.
We also made the decision, as a group, to narrow our focus, with each of our consultants becoming ultra-specialist and committing to recruit into just one practice area. As a business, we now arguably boast the leading recruiters of family, personal injury and private client lawyers in the North West.
We’ve also moved into the retained recruitment market. We won our first retained assignment at the end of 2017 and, buoyed by that, confidently went on to win several more as 2018 progressed. Because we are so embedded in the areas we specialise in and approach candidates like humans, rather than entities to be sold, our clients are increasingly happy to partner up with us in this way and entrust us with significant assignments. Indeed, we’ve more exciting plans on this front and will be rolling out a featured client offering early on in 2019.
There have been a couple of watershed moments in the last twelve months that I’m particularly proud of and for me, these really signalled the prevailing direction of travel for Realm.
In the three years since our inception, we’ve been nominated and shortlisted for several awards but, earlier this year Joe was named Recruiter of the Year at the Insider Young Professionals Awards. Joe was our first hire nearly two and a half years ago and has evolved from a graduate to an award-winning legal recruiter.
This year we also made our 150th candidate placement. We go into our fourth year with exciting plans to expand, the possibility of taking home three Manchester Young Talent Awards, and a team in place that I couldn’t be prouder to be part of.
