The Personal Injury market continues to evolve, and the biggest story isn’t necessarily salary growth.
It’s the increasing divergence between different parts of the market.
Not all of personal injury is moving at the same pace
Catastrophic Injury and Clinical Negligence continue to command some of the strongest salaries in the wider PI market.
Meanwhile, General PI, including EL/PL and industrial disease, remains more structured, with flatter progression but active movement between firms.
Salary growth eventually slows
One of the more interesting findings is that salary progression within Catastrophic Injury and Clinical Negligence often begins to flatten beyond around 10 PQE.
At that point, leadership capability, specialist expertise, and strategic value to a team become increasingly important.
Lawyers are becoming more selective
Leadership, operational structure, flexibility, and quality of work are all becoming more influential in attraction and retention decisions.
Many lawyers are assessing opportunities more holistically than they were a few years ago.
