This is a fantastic opportunity for a NQ-3 PQE Care Solicitor to join a busy and expanding childcare law team in Barnsley.

The role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for public childcare law who wants to build their career in a supportive, forward-thinking environment. You’ll work on meaningful cases representing parents and children in care proceedings, helping families navigate some of the most challenging moments in their lives.

Who we’re looking for

  • Solicitor with NQ–3 years PQE in childcare/care proceedings
  • Experience representing parents and families in public law proceedings
  • Advocacy experience or willingness to develop advocacy skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent client care and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, organised and able to manage deadlines
  • Knowledge of legal aid eligibility and charging structures (Desired)

What you’ll be doing

  • Representing parents and children in public law care proceedings
  • Managing your own caseload of childcare matters
  • Attending court hearings and undertaking advocacy where required
  • Drafting legal documents and preparing cases for hearings
  • Providing high standards of client care and maintaining strong relationships with clients and external organisations
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the firm
  • Supporting the development of the care team and contributing to marketing and business development activity
