Court of Protection Lawyer

Apply now
  • Join one of the UK’s most specialist Court of Protection teams, working on complex, high-impact cases rarely seen elsewhere
  • No billing targets: focus on quality, technical excellence and achieving the best outcomes for vulnerable clients
  • Develop your expertise alongside nationally recognised specialists with a clear pathway for long-term progression

If you’re looking for a Court of Protection role where you can deepen your technical expertise, work on genuinely complex matters and learn from some of the most experienced specialists in the field, this is an exceptional opportunity.

You’ll join a boutique team trusted to advise on some of the most challenging Court of Protection matters in the country.

During your first few months, you’ll build confidence managing your own Grade B/C-level caseload while learning the team’s unique approach to risk management and deputyship work. As your experience develops, you’ll take ownership of increasingly complex matters, become a trusted adviser to vulnerable clients and their families, and gain exposure to work that extends beyond traditional Court of Protection practice, including contentious probate, expert witness work and investigations.

This is a team that values curiosity, collaboration and continuous learning. You’ll work closely with senior lawyers who are recognised for their expertise, gaining hands-on mentoring and the opportunity to build a specialist career in an area of law where high-quality experience is difficult to find elsewhere.

The culture is relaxed, supportive and refreshingly free from unnecessary pressure. There are no traditional billing targets, giving you the time and space to focus on delivering exceptional client care and developing your technical skills.

Who we’re looking for

  • Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with experience in Court of Protection, Private Client or Litigation
  • Experience managing your own caseload
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and confident working with financial information and Excel
  • Calm, resilient and able to manage sensitive matters with empathy
  • Interest in contentious Court of Protection or contentious probate work (desirable)
  • Someone who is keen to learn, develop and build long-term specialist expertise

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing your own mixed Court of Protection caseload
  • Advising on deputyship, property and affairs matters
  • Preparing Court applications, financial schedules and statutory documentation
  • Conducting financial assessments and supporting care fee disputes
  • Assisting with financial abuse investigations and recovery matters
  • Supporting contentious Court of Protection and related probate matters
  • Working closely with senior specialists on complex and high-value cases
  • Building strong relationships with vulnerable clients, families and professional stakeholders

Salary & Benefits

  • Highly competitive salary based on experience
  • No chargeable hours targets
  • Exposure to complex, nationally significant Court of Protection work
  • Direct mentoring from highly experienced specialists
  • Clear progression pathway within a specialist team
  • Flexible working arrangements following settling in
  • Opportunity to contribute to expert witness reports and advisory work
  • Collaborative, boutique working environment focused on quality over volume
