Court of Protection Solicitor
- Be the senior Court of Protection presence in Manchester, real autonomy from day one
- 3 days from home + national team support without internal competition
- Step into an existing Yorkshire caseload with scope to build something long-term
You’ll pick up an established Court of Protection caseload from the outset, with a strong base of clients. The expectation isn’t to build from scratch, but to take control of what’s already there and shape how the Manchester offering develops.
In your first 6–12 months, you’ll operate as the key Court of Protection contact locally. You’ll manage your own files with autonomy, build relationships with clients, and support a trainee and secretary. You’ll also stay closely connected to a wider national team, so you’re not working in isolation, just without the internal competition that can come with larger teams.
Over time, the role becomes more strategic. There’s a genuine opportunity to grow the Manchester presence, strengthen referral relationships and become the recognised go-to for Court of Protection work in the region.
The culture strikes a balance that’s often hard to find: the backing, infrastructure and benefits of a large firm, but with a collaborative, non-political environment where people support each other rather than compete.
Who we’re looking for
- Qualified Solicitor with 2–5 years’ PQE in Court of Protection
- Strong experience in property & affairs work
- Ability to manage a caseload independently
- Experience building and maintaining client relationships
- Comfortable working autonomously as a senior presence locally
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Interest in developing a regional offering over time (Desired)
- Exposure to finance and/or local authority matters (Desired)
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior staff (Desired)
What you’ll be doing
- Managing a varied Court of Protection caseload (property & affairs, finance and some local authority work)
- Acting as the senior CoP lawyer in Manchester, or Leeds if preferred.
- Taking ownership of existing Manchester-based client relationships
- Supporting and mentoring a trainee solicitor and secretary
- Working closely with a national CoP team on more complex matters
- Contributing to the growth and development of the Leeds offering
- Maintaining high standards of client care and case management

- Hybrid working, 3 days from home
