Are you a Court of Protection Solicitor looking to develop your expertise within a genuinely specialist team?

This award-winning boutique practice is continuing to grow and is looking for a Court of Protection Solicitor or Legal Executive to join its Manchester team. Applications are welcomed from lawyers with at least two years’ Court of Protection experience, including pre-qualification experience, through to established Associates.

You’ll manage your own Property & Affairs caseload with support from dedicated Case Workers, trainee solicitors and paralegals, while being supervised by one of three specialist Court of Protection Directors.

The work offers significant variety and technical depth. Clients include individuals who have lost capacity following birth injuries, accidents, clinical negligence claims, dementia and other illnesses. The team also handles high-value contested matters, jurisdictional issues and financial abuse investigations.

Who we’re looking for

• At least 2 years’ Court of Protection experience (E)
• Property & Affairs experience (E)
• Solicitor or Legal Executive (E)
• Experience managing Court of Protection matters (E)
• Strong client care and communication skills (E)
• Professional deputyship experience (D)
• High-value or complex matter experience (D)
• Contested Court of Protection experience (D)
• Financial abuse investigation experience (D)
• Knowledge of care funding and welfare issues (D)
• Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards knowledge (D)

What you’ll be doing

• Managing Property & Affairs files
• Handling professional deputyship matters
• Making applications to the Court of Protection
• Supporting complex and high-value cases
• Advising families on LPAs and deputyships
• Handling contested COP matters
• Investigating financial abuse where required
• Preparing instructions to counsel and court bundles
• Advising on practical and legal issues
• Working closely with clients, families and carers
• Supporting senior lawyers on complex matters
