Clinical Negligence Solicitor

Apply now
  • £55,000–£65,000 plus bonus
  • Manage a low-volume caseload of 20–30 serious and catastrophic Clinical Negligence claims
  • Highly flexible working – just 2 office days per month required

If you’re an experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor looking for greater autonomy, genuinely flexible working and the opportunity to handle complex, high-value cases, this could be an excellent next move. You’ll join a growing Clinical Negligence team within an investor-backed national law firm that is currently expanding its footprint following recent acquisitions.
The role is initially being recruited to provide maternity cover from September 2026, but importantly, the intention is for the position to become permanent. You’ll inherit an established caseload rather than having to build one from scratch, with around 20–30 serious and catastrophic matters including birth injury, cerebral palsy and cancer claims.
Most of the caseload is litigated, so you’ll have the opportunity to use your technical and litigation expertise on complex matters while enjoying a high degree of autonomy over how you manage your work. The wider Clinical Negligence practice is also entering an interesting period of growth as teams from recently acquired firms are consolidated into the business, creating further opportunities for experienced lawyers to develop their careers as the department expands.

Who we’re looking for

  • Clinical Negligence Solicitor with a minimum of 4 years’ PQE (E)
  • Experience managing your own Clinical Negligence caseload (E)
  • Experience handling high-value and complex claims (E)
  • Strong litigation experience (E)
  • Sound knowledge of Clinical Negligence law, procedures, protocols and relevant legislation (E)
  • Advocacy experience (E)
  • Strong commercial awareness (E)
  • Excellent client relationship management skills (E)
  • Confidence working autonomously (E)
  • Grade A / 8+ years’ PQE (D)
  • Business development and networking experience (D)
  • Ability to develop professional referral relationships (D)

What you’ll be doing

  • Inheriting an established Clinical Negligence caseload
  • Managing around 20–30 serious and catastrophic claims
  • Handling predominantly litigated matters
  • Running cases autonomously from instruction to conclusion
  • Advising on complex birth injury and cerebral palsy claims
  • Handling cancer and other high-value negligence matters
  • Developing relationships with clients and referrers
  • Contributing to departmental marketing
  • Supporting the development of the firm’s Clinical Negligence offering
  • Developing local and professional referral relationships
  • Working towards a target of 6 chargeable hours per day

Salary & Benefits

  • £55,000–£65,000
  • Bonus scheme
  • 27 days’ annual leave
  • 8 bank holidays
  • Highly flexible hybrid working
  • Ideally 1 office day per week
  • Minimum requirement of only 2 office days per month
  • Choice of Manchester, Leeds or Liverpool office
  • Flexible and remote working arrangements
  • High levels of autonomy
  • Low-volume, high-value caseload
  • Opportunity to work on complex and catastrophic claims
  • Long-term opportunity beyond the initial maternity cover
  • Progression opportunities as the Clinical Negligence practice expands
  • Financial backing from an investment-funded business
  • Growing national platform following recent acquisitions

This would particularly suit a Clinical Negligence Solicitor who wants to continue handling sophisticated, high-value work without sacrificing flexibility and autonomy, while joining a department at an important stage in its growth.
