Over the festive period, there’s the opportunity to get a much-needed break from the office to clear your head. During this time, you may have had the chance to assess your year and plan your future (if not, you might want to read this). After doing so you may have come to realise that in the new year a new role is for you. Common signs of needing a fresh start include: New year dread, lack of motivation or general unsatisfactory feelings towards your job or workplace.
But don’t worry, we’re here to help you find the right move for you.
Think about what you want
Before you start aimlessly scrolling through our website for jobs it’s important to make sure to know what you’re looking for. First of all, sit down and go through your priorities. As explored previously, there is usually a key reason as to why you want to move and if that’s the case let’s make sure we don’t make that mistake again. Are you looking for better pay? Is your long commute getting you down?? Would you like more responsibility?
Once you know this, you’ll be in a better position to browse jobs or reach out to recruiters and find the right move for you
Prepare to invest
Looking for a job is almost a job within itself, involving updating your CV, speaking with recruiters to attending interviews. The more time you are prepared to invest in your job search, the better. . Like with all great investments, the reward exceeds what you put in.

Both your CV and your LinkedIn profile are so important to getting your dream move because they are your shop window, they will likely be where an employer gets their first impression of you and first impressions last. More than three quarters of recruiters use LinkedIn for sourcing candidates and every law firm requires a CV at the beginning of the hiring process so make sure to get these things right. Read our blog for advice on how to make your CV stand out and our blog on Linkedin profiles for more help or get in touch with our recruiters for tailored CV advice.
